Greeting/Welcome
Welcome children with unique greetings each day.
- Recite "Good Morning" as a way to welcome the children each day.
Good morning, (child's name).
How are you?
Say your name,
And we'll clap for you!- Use your hand as a pretend puppet to greet the children. Encourage them to respond back with their hands!
- Take a few moments each day to allow children to share what they did last night.
Calendar Time Support children's understanding of the passage of time with short activities.
- Introduce the Spanish word for March, marzo (MAHR-soh).
- Acknowledge March birthdays. Birthday Calendar Pieces/Certificates are available at https://www.funshineexpress.com/classroom-resources.html.
- Place an incorrect Calendar Piece on the Calendar Grid (see Resources) and observe to see who notices the mistake.
Weather Observation Observe and compare weather changes over time.
- Review the Weather Pieces (see Resources). Which type of weather is most common this time of year?
- Explain the phrase "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb."
- Track the number of sunny days you experience in March.
Daily Review - Assess comprehension and recall skills with short theme-related activities.
- Demonstrate the sign language symbol for play several times throughout the month.
- Hold up a familiar board game and ask children to explain the rules.
- Send the March 2024 Newsletters home (https://www.funshineonline.com/preschool_newsletters.html. Encourage families to sing the song "Putting Our Toys Away" as they clean up after playing together.
Pledge of AllegianceIntroduce the "Pledge of Allegiance." Demonstrate how to place your right hand over your heart as you recite the oath. Encourage children to say it with you once they begin to memorize it.
March Holidays:Families in your setting may be planning for the following holidays/observances this month:
