Possible Interactions
- Offer books that show a range of hats from across cultures. Talk with children about the significance of hats. What importance do they have in characters' lives?
- Read rhyming books often. As children become familiar with them, pause at the end of sentences to see if they can complete the rhymes.
- Highlight key vocabulary in books and add those words to your word wall. Define the words for children and use them in regular conversation.
- Post the Hats Word Wall Word (see Resources). Offer each child a book and challenge everyone to find the word.
- Search for helmets in illustrations. How many can you find together? Do any look the same as the helmet on the Word Wall Word (see Resources)?
Always preview books to ensure they align with the needs and values of your group.
