Greeting/Welcome
Welcome children with unique greetings each day.
- Sing "Welcome" from together each day as the children add their Welcome Name Tags to the Welcome Display (see Resources).

- Introduce the Spanish word for September, septiembre (sehp-tee-EHM-breh) (see Resources).
- Acknowledge September birthdays. Birthday Calendar Pieces/Certificates are available at https://www.funshineexpress.com/classroom-resources.html.
- Help children notice that the Calendar Pieces (see Resources) follow a color pattern. Can they name which color will come next?
Weather Observation Observe and compare weather changes over time.
- Print a Weather Graph for each child. Have children fill in the boxes according to the weather each school day.
- Name the different kinds of weather on the Weather Pieces (see Resources).
- Attach the provided clip to the summer season image on the Weather Display (see Resources). Do the children know when fall will begin (September 22)?
Daily Review Assess comprehension and recall skills with short theme-related activities.
- Send home the September 2022 Newsletter (https://www.funshineonline.com/preschool_newsletters.html). Highlight the Learn with Me section. Encourage families to look for the featured projects.
- Ask children to describe their morning and bedtime routines.
- Ask, "What is the difference between saying hello and goodbye?"
Pledge of AllegianceIntroduce the "Pledge of Allegiance." Demonstrate how to place your right hand over your heart as you recite the oath. Encourage children to say it with you once they begin to memorize it.
September Holidays:Families in your setting may be planning for or preparing to celebrate/observe the following holidays this month:
- National Hispanic Heritage Month
- Rosh Hashanah
- Grandparents Day
There may be other holidays or observances that hold meaning to the children's families. Refer to the Celebrating Holidays Questionnaires (see Related Activities) and consult families to help facilitate meaningful conversation and plan activities.
